MASLP Course

The MASLP programme is a post graduate degree programme after BASLP or Equivalents. The curriculum consists of theory and practical classes in the field of Speech-Language Pathology, Audiology and allied subjects such as Linguistics, Statistics etc. The total duration of this post graduate degree Program consists of four semesters.


    Course of Study


  • The course of study leading towards the Master in Audiology and Speech, Language Pathology (MASLP) over a period of two academic years.
  • The academic years will be divided into four years (6 month duration each). There will be university examinations after each year.

    Distribution of Seats


  • The number of seats available is 10, 5 Seats are reserved for merit and 5 seats in management quota.

    Subject of Study


    Note: Subject shall be grouped under major subjects and allied subjects, applied Electronics and Acoustics.

  • Group1 - Speech Language Pathology
  • Group2 - Audiology
  • Group3 - Allied Subjects
  • Statistics and Research Methodology, Clinical Linguistics

    Medium of Instruction


  • The examinations, tests, assignments and viva shall be in English.

    Attendance


  • Attendance, for both practical and theory classes is compulsory for all students. No students shall be permitted to take the university examination, unless he/she has put in a minimum of 80% attendance in all theory classes and 90% in clinical practicals in each section/department in each year as per the University rules governing attendance.
  • Failures to put in / meet the required attendance by any student render him / her disqualified to appear in the University examination. The candidate who will not be able to take the examination for want of attendance will be declared as Failed and will have to repeat the exam subsequently by putting in required attendance.

    Evaluation


  • Examination results shall be based on the marks obtained in the University and the Internal Assessment.
  • Students should have a minimum 50% in each paper for a pass.

    Examination


  • There shall be written examination after each year conducted by University.
  • The examinations shall be of the duration of 3 hours.
  • To be eligible for applying for the annual examination, a candidate must meet the requirements under clinical practicum.
  • Note: Prior to applying for University examination, the candidate shall obtain a certificate regarding his/her conduct from the Head of the Institution. Applying and appearing for the annual examination is compulsory except when a candidate does not fulfill the requirements specified and/or on medical grounds. Those students who have valid grounds for the annual examination shall be permitted to take a make-up examination for the papers in which the candidate was absent.


    Internal Assessment


  • Marks shall also be allocated based on tests, assignments, presentations and activities of similar nature conducted in the course of an academic year. The total marks allotted for internal assessment shall be 20% of the maximum marks for a given paper in the annual examination.

    Clinical Practicum


  • The working hours consists of 8 (8am to 4pm), which includes 4hours of clinical practice and 4hours of theory class. The marks for the clinical or practical examination for each year shall be based on the performance during clinical postings and viva-voce conducted in the department at the end of each year.
  • The student shall get a minimum of 50% in each group to successfully complete the clinical practicum.
