The center has started in the year 2000 and is functioning in a 1,00,000 square feet building located in 4.25 acres of land donated by Philanthropist, Sri.V.Govindankutty. In addition 1.65 acres of land was purchased in the premises for the construction of a residential school for children with developmental disabilities .The institute has facilities for inpatient services, out patient Services, Neuro ICU for emergency management and Operation Theater. The center has a well established electrophysiology, Audiology, Neuro endocrine and genetic labs. The center has registered almost 8,000 cases and majority of them are children with various types of developmental disabilities. In addition adults with dementia, post stroke aphasia, post infectious and post traumatic cases are also admitted to the institution at present. The Institute is well recognized and accepted by the public for its outstanding services to children with learning disabilities, autism, mental retardation, cerebral palsy, hearing impairment, multiple congenital anomalies and other genetic and metabolic and endocrine disorders. Cases are also referred from overseas to this institution. More than 90 staff members wok in this Institution including Neurologists, Pediatrician, Speech Language Pathologist, Psychologists, Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Special Educators and Sociologists. The institute is running a special school which gives daily development training programs for children with various types of disabilities. The center is also conducting Bachelor of Speech Language Pathology (BASLP) and Master of Speech Language Pathology (MASLP) courses affiliated to university of Calicut and recognized by the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI).It has also proposed to start PhD programs in Speech Language Pathology and Cognitive Neurosciences, Clinical Psychology and DipNB(Neuro).
