Shoranur Institute functioning for the last 10 years have a registration of more than 6,000 cases.60-70% of them constitutes children from the pre-school and school age group. Children when admitted for 2-3 week training programs, they also require exposure to educational activities A residential school of approximately 200-500 students is ideally (at least for 10% of the population registered) is required. At present the school is only able to accommodate 20-30 students only. These students are coming from far of places and parents avail rented house in the premises of the institute at present. The average cost of the family therefore doubles up. Therefore a residential school in the supervision of the hospital for the education of special need children is a must for the comprehensive management of these disorders.
